Rancho 9 - Architect

When Mother Nature takes it upon herself to rearrange the furniture, the result can be spectacular.  So it is with Marco Aldaco, an architect to the stars and the genius behind Rancho 9.  In Marco's words, "I try to collaborate with nature to create vivacious designs."

Marco's estate designs, commissioned by such notables as Aristotle and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, invoke a feeling of spirituality.  He breathes the humidity of life into what he terms "eternal materials—brick, cement, wood, stucco, marble", coaxing and sculpting an inspirational living space.  Walls, floors and doorways follow a simple elegance that blends local history with jungle, sea and sky.  There is counterpoint to everything:  the height of the fig tree against the flatness of the ocean, the splash of colored tile offsetting the whiteness of clean stucco.  And interior designer Cecily Hughes has added her own impeccable touch to appoint every room in Marco's Rancho 9 design.

Marco Aldaco is a rare beast—a pragmatic artist.  He believes in humility and simplicity of design, and as a consequence, guests at Rancho 9 feel a sense of belonging.  Despite the service and the elegance and the obvious luxury, Rancho 9 is, first and foremost, a home.

Mother Nature would be proud.
